Hi guys! Some news on the Akay Okashi S2k Time Attack project car! As you can see by the pictures, a very big amount of work have been done on the body. And a lot of handcraft have been involved!
Plaster and polyester has been used in industrial quantities, and Okashi San’s workshop has been busy for an entire week end to transform that steel/rust/plywood/polystyrene made thing in a smooth, harmonic shaped, monocrhome and, somehow really cool, finished maquette.
Judging from what we see, there are some statements that we can do. First of all, the big, LMP1 style fin is here to stay, and will likely end up in the finished car. Another fact is that there will not be a passenger door, as there will not be a passenger seat. Sorry, no shotgun rides on the S2K, just serious business here. Another sure thing, is that there will not be any window on the rear, but just lexan made, side windows.
And the most certain thing, is that it doesn’t seem a S2000 anymore. Yes, this is real, but be sure that there is a very specific reason for every change in the shape of the japanese two seater.
Now the most serious part of the work starts. The rear part of the car will be the first to be printed in fiberglass, as the work on the aerodynamic surfaces already started, in the form of computer generated renderings and simulations. Pressed by my continuous requests, Akay San gave me this rendering of the front part… I’ll just leave it here. Imagine what we will see in the future!
